I started drawing and painting with finger paints when I was VERY young.
Ever since, my parents have done everything possible to support me and my talents. I had my first painting party when I was like 7 years old. At 16 I quit my job as a hostess at a restaurant and opened the local phone book, called sign shops and wound up with a job as an Assistant Graphic Designer. Though I did most every job in the sign shop… and it was fun!
After highschool, I went to Winthrop University where the real fun started. Originally I was a Graphic Design major, but it just wasn’t clicking…and I didn’t pass my “Review,” which is vital in continuing the program, 2 times. YIKES! At that same time, a new major was rolling around, Illustration. When I asked what the difference between Graphic Design and Illustration was, my advisor said basically this, If you can express a word or idea with text or placement of text, like showing ‘kaboom’ by actually manipulating the word itself, then you’re a graphic designer. If you can express that same word or idea with color or shapes, like why you made Susie’s hair red, then you’re an Illustrator. That was it, I was an Illustrator. That was exactly what was missing. I switched majors, took one semesters worth of classes, and took the “Review” again. Guess who passed? ME! From there on out, it was pretty smooth sailing. I actually began to understand the rules of design, by interpreting the rules that I learned in Illustration.

Since then I’ve been working to make myself better and better everyday.
Currently, I’m the Art Director for ThemeNaps, LLC. I design and illustrate new products, product packaging, marketing materials, catalogs, signage, etc. There’s alot! Also, I’m currently attempting to pick up photography as a hobby.
Oh yeah, and I love spending time traveling, with friends, or at sports events.
